Base of the glide is 1 1/4" metal. Swivel glide, grips inside of leg, see "More View" for picture of clip. Metal base glides are very popular in schools and institutions and move easily across smooth or carpeted floors. Metal base glides are nickel plated and are extremely durable, but when they do wear out, they will scratch the floor. The glide freely swivels beyond 30 degree angle.
